811 - Know What's Below - Texas School Pipeline Safety

Energy sources like gas and other petroleum products are transported through underground pipelines. During Spring and Summer, digging activity such as landscaping and construction projects increase damage risks.

If you suspect a leak inside or outside of your home, avoid anything that could create a spark, leave the area by foot, warn others to stay away and call 911.
Do not re-enter the area until emergency responders have informed you that it is safe to do so.

Surgeon General’s Advisory on E-cigarette Use Among Youth - The E-cigarette Epidemic Among Youth

Dear Parents:

The Surgeon General of the United States has published an important message about teenage use of electronic cigarettes. You can find the entire message by clicking the link above or click on the "Parents" menu at the top of this website and then click on Parent Advisories. In an effort to discourage students from engaging in an unhealthy and potentially dangerous practice, we have elevated the consequence for using, giving, possessing or selling e-cigarettes. A student who engages in this activity at school or at a school related activity, may be placed in the Disciplinary Alternative School. (See the Student Code of Conduct on the campus website). The Shattered Dreams program is coming to Navarro High School on May 16th and 17th.

Shattered Dreams is a two-day, school-based program that promotes responsible decision-making among high school students regarding underage drinking and impaired driving (driving after drinking or riding with a drinking driver) by showing them how irresponsible choices can end all dreams. The Shattered Dreams program emphasizes the results of alcohol-related crashes: the shattered dreams of those who drive after drinking, the innocent victims, and their friends and families.
On May 16th Link Road will be closed from Highway 123 to the Elementary school from 8:30-12:00. During the closure there will be police, sheriff deputies, fire department vehicles and a helicopter in the area. Please do not be alarmed by this activity; it is part of the tragic portrayal of Shattered Dreams.
People who need to get to the Elementary or Intermediate School during this time should approach on Link Road from the west, or use the service road entrance on SH 123 at the Junior High. The gate in back of the Elementary School is normally locked during school hours, but it will be open on May 16.
